About me

Backwoods Industrial Charm
Tommy, AKA Boffo Santana-Jones sites as his primary musical influences the sound of freight trains crossing the swamps near his childhood home in rural Maine, the wail of spruce trees being turned into paper pulp, and the gentle ring of plows scraping snow from asphalt.
Boffo has been crafting sound in his own unique style for many years, and has only recently surfaced in the world of nationally released records. His stint as a member of Pow Wow recording artist Ampersand with the widely acclaimed EP Traction got him started in using the recording studio as his palette. Found sounds and shocking lyrics are his trademark, especially metallic sounds such as samples of a trip on the New York subway, or from a tour of the household kitchen utensils.
Santana-Jones is a master at conveying powerful and shocking truths with an astonishing economy of words. Notwithstanding his gratuitous dance-floor industrial bash about phone sex Give Me More, Boffo B-sided his latest vinyl release with a hilarious and insidious song about the ins and outs of masturbation in Swollen Up Silly, which shared sides with his metallic tribal ode to New York's East Village boys in Eastern.
On his latest release, as collaborator on "This Way Out," Give Me More makes its first album appearance, and Boffo also treats us to a fresh but shocking effluence of childhood angst in the four-letter-word-fest `Till You. Boffo brings to his recordings unique insight and craftsmanship developed in his broad classical training, including his earning a B.A. in music. Since each new recording is a surprise to everyone involved, including Boffo himself, we can only look forward and await each surprise.Boffomuzik/Entries/2006/1/25_Give_Me_More.htmlshapeimage_5_link_0
